The latest news from the Chris Spicer literary stable is that he is putting the finishing touch to a short book on preaching and preachers. A departure from anything he has previously written, this book is aimed at helping preachers and would-be preachers to do this thing called preaching better.
Entitled Making the Mummies Dance, [subtitled Preachers & Preaching] it does exactly what it says on the tin. Along with a series of short videos this book seeks to help those called to proclaim God’s Word in a public setting.

If you could choose ten movies to showcase your life and send a message to future generations, what would they be?
Well that is the theme of my latest book The Reel Story. The culmination of a two-year journey, this autobiographical book tells my story through the lens of ten movies - each film is a window on my life.
Although we might prefer our story to have a classic beginning and a fairy tale ending, the truth is, our beginnings can be messy, our endings can be imperfect.
Life is a mixture of comedy, fantasy, romance, tragedy and so on. While we might prefer to edit our past, massage our present and fantasise about our future, an honest person would admit that their story is full of lessons learnt and mistakes made.
In writing this book I have refused to photoshop the ugly parts of my life or glamorize the mundane bits either. More than a rerun of golden oldies, this is a contemporary way of narrating about those people, objects and events that have either mugged me or ministered to me in a journey lasting what in biblical terms is ‘three score years and ten.’ Covering wide-ranging issues like: Parenting, Servant Leadership, Marriage, Approval Addiction, Creativity, Spiritual Abuse, Loss and Legacy - The Reel Story has something to say to everyone.
While some people may know me as a father or grandfather, others will know me as a work colleague, businessman, church leader, educator, author or public speaker. Few will know the real person behind the persona. From middle England to Midwest America, from an English seaport to the coastline of Portland Oregon, from British social housing to Brazilian shanty towns, The Reel Story provides some of the highlights of the adventure of my life.
Whether our existence is a legacy to be remembered, or a liability from which to recover, each of us forms part of a chapter in the autobiography of other people.
